America Saves Week is a week-long campaign to promote savings
for future financial goals, particularly by low and moderate income
U.S. households. It will run from February 24 to March 2, 2008 under
the leadership of the Consumer Federation of America and
participating Saves campaigns in cities, counties, and states around
the United States.
New Jersey Saves Week (NJSW) is organized by the
New Jersey
Coalition for Financial Education (NJCFE). It includes information
and events designed to promote savings by New Jersey residents,
including financial programs for consumers conducted by NJCFE member
organizations and promotion of the direct deposit of tax refunds at
volunteer income tax assistance (VITA) sites. A Web site with
information about savings and related topics will be available
year-round and a week of special events to promote savings will be
conducted annually.
The objectives of New Jersey Saves Week are to:
Create an awareness in New Jersey of personal finance topics, especially the
need for regular savings
Encourage New Jersey residents to save money and enroll as American
Savers (www.AmericaSaves.org)
Increase visibility for the New Jersey Coalition for Financial Education and
its member organizations
Establish a New Jersey Saves Week Web site, linked to America Saves, for ongoing
savings promotion in New Jersey
